This year marks 26 years of contribution to the communities and societies to which we belong. It is a proud history that we are committed to upholding. Our transition to a reposition strategy and new leadership has provided an opportunity to think strategically about the future and reflect on our past performance and future plans. Inspiring leadership, a reputation for ethical conduct, innovation and a commitment to giving back has ensured Labat success over the last 25 years.
In 2025 we worked to align both internal and external stakeholders, including board and management, on Labat’s medium-term strategy, informed by our bold ambition in entering the AI – Tech market. In our announcement last year on SENS. Labat outlined our future plans in respect of our re positioning strategy and value creation, which, along with our assessment of the full potential of each of our businesses, informed the context of our change and identification of value-enhancing opportunities.
Building a Technology-Led Group
The Group’s transformation has been anchored by the acquisition and integration of high-quality, profitable technology businesses that operate across the ICT and AI-enabled value chain.
Classic International Trading (Pty) Ltd
Labat Africa acquired a controlling interest in Classic International, a profitable and established software and technology distribution business. The acquisition provided Labat with:
- Immediate exposure to enterprise software distribution
- A scalable and cash-generative operating platform
- A foundation for vertical integration across the technology stack
Classic’s proven operating model and strong earnings profile positioned it as a cornerstone asset within Labat’s technology segment.
Ahnamu Investments (Pty) Ltd
The acquisition of a 51% interest in Ahnamu Investments further strengthened the Group’s ICT footprint. Ahnamu is an award-winning ICT importer and distributor of enterprise-grade hardware solutions, with an established presence across South Africa and the SADC region.
Ahnamu’s capabilities include:
- Enterprise and commercial IT hardware distribution
- Turnkey ICT solutions for corporates and institutions
- Cross-border operations generating foreign currency revenue
Together, Classic and Ahnamu provide Labat Africa with end-to-end exposure across software, hardware and infrastructure, enabling meaningful vertical integration and cross-selling opportunities.
AI, ICT and Digital Enablement
Labat Africa’s technology strategy extends beyond traditional ICT distribution. Through strategic partnerships and long-term commercial agreements, the Group is increasingly aligned with AI-enabled systems, fintech platforms, cloud infrastructure and advanced digital solutions servicing blue-chip clients across the financial and enterprise sectors.
This positioning reflects the Group’s commitment to participating in structural, technology-led growth trends shaping Africa’s digital economy.
